There is a new and steadily growing environment-cum-tourism advocacy movement in town–they are called the Beach Samaritans. Formed in October 2014 by  Wakaabout Media and not-for-profit organisation Children And The Environment (CATE), it mobilises volunteers to cleanup dirty, community-based beaches in Nigeria.

So far, the Beach Samaritans have cleaned three beaches in Lagos: Alpha Beach (October 2014), Tarkwa Bay beach (December 2014) and Ibeshe Beach (February 2015). The group’s next cleanup location will be at Ilashe beach on 4th April 2015 (see google map below).

To volunteer, please call any of these numbers: 0809 283 1070/ 0803 973 2757 or email beachsamaritans@gmail.com
